CTFE, or chlorotrifluoroethylene, has a high compressive strength and low deformation under load.
It resists attack from a variety of chemicals, including mineral acids. CTFE is more rigid than PTFE,
can be made transparent if cooled rapidly, and is melt-processable. In film form, CTFE has very
low vapor transmission properties. CTFE is useful in the manufacture of chemically resistant O rings,
gaskets, seals and transparent windows, as well as for cryogenic applications and as a film for packaging sensitive electronics and drugs.
