PFA (perfluoroalkoxy) is a relatively new fluoronated polymer that displays excellent
chemical resistance and electrical properties. PFA is similar to PTFE in its low
coefficient of friction and chemical resistance, but ranks slightly below PTFE in
temperature and other important properties. PFA is resistant to cracks and stress,
displays low permeation, and is essentially chemically inert and non-porous.
Typical applications for PFA include electrical wire and cable insulation, chemical
tank linings, medical test devices, and any application requiring a wide temperature range and chemical compatibility.
