Polyethylene is part of a versatile family of plastics known as olefins, which are products
that have been chemically derived from ethylene gas. Polyethylene displays excellent chemical
resistance, wide temperature range, and economical cost. High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) is
particularly noted for high tensile strength, resistance to abrasion and stress cracking,
and excellent energy absorption. Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE), on the other hand, offers
excellent corrosion resistance and low moisture permeabilty, is easily fabricated, vacuum
formed or welded, and is useful where rigidity, strength, and high temperature are not required.
Typical uses for polyethylene include business machine parts, orthopedics, chemical storage
containers, food industry wrapping and containment, and more.
